The Overland Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the murder of Justice Johnson. At approximately 7:15pm, police officers responded to McDonald’s at Page Avenue and Ashby Road in Overland, MO for a report of shots fired and a person down. There Justice Johnson (age 18) was located. He was transported to the hospital where he died from a gunshot wound.

As a result of this investigation, the following charges were issued in connection with Justice's death:

• Tabyus Mace (age 18) - Murder 2nd Degree, Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, 2 counts Armed Criminal Action - bond $200,000
• Joseph Jordan III (age 19) - Tampering with Physical Evidence - bond $100,000
