UPDATE: MAJOR CASE SQUAD CALLED TO INVESTIGATE SUSPICIOUS DEATH IN LINCOLN COUNTY
On Sunday July 1, 2018, at approximately 10:00 AM, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call for a suspicious death at the Elsberry Motel and Lodge, located at 3407 North Highway 79. Lincoln County requested the activation of The Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad to assist with the investigation.
The 29-year-old white female victim was located inside of a motel room and she appeared to have died from several gunshot wounds. An autopsy is scheduled today to confirm these findings, as well as her identity. The Major Case Squad will release victim information once it is confirmed from the Medical Examiner’s office. It does not appear this was a random act and Major Case Squad detectives are actively interviewing witnesses and those close to the victim.
