Major Case Squad Arrests Suspect in Overland Homicide
On Wednesday March 30, 2022, in the late evening, the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad detectives arrested an individual for the murder of Hossein Cyrus Rastegar. The suspect charged has been fully identified as:
Smith, David Todd
W/M 47 years old
The Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad presented their investigation to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office who issued the following charges today:
The case originated when Overland Police Department received a Check the Well Being call on Tuesday evening to the 10000 block of Midland. When officers arrived, they found the victim deceased inside of his residence with his hands and feet bound behind his back. The Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad was activated and in less than 24 hours the suspect, David Todd Smith, was in custody. He was located at a hotel on the 9700 block of St. Charles Rock Road. Although this is still an on-going investigation, it does not appear the suspect and the victim had any association with one another.
David Todd Smith is currently being held at St. Louis County Jail on a $1 million bond.
