St. Louis Major Case Squad Investigations

On Friday, July 27ᵗʰ, 2023, the St. Clair County States Attorney James Gomric’s Office filed the following charge in reference to this investigation:

Jarell M. Anderson
23 years old
East St. Louis, Illinois
Murder w/intent to kill or injure
Bond $2,000,000

With assistance from the US Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the St. Louis County Police Department Special Response Unit, Anderson was taken into custody this afternoon in St. Louis County. He is being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center awaiting extradition back to St. Clair County.

The Major Case Squad expresses their condolences to the family and friends of Turyan Austell Jr. and acknowledges this as an unfortunate, tragic, and senseless crime.

The investigation remains active, and investigators are still working and clearing leads.
