On Saturday, May 15, two people were heartlessly murdered, in two separate shooting incidents occurring within one hour of each other. Investigators from the University City Police Department and the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis have recovered forensic evidence that suggests the murders of Barbara Goodkins and Dr. Sergie Zacharev are linked.

The first incident occurred at approximately 10:51 p.m. Saturday. Stanley and Barbara Goodkin were traveling eastbound in the 8200 block of Delmar Blvd. when both were struck by gunfire. Mr. Goodkin sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Mrs. Goodkin succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, May 16.

The second incident occurred less than one hour later in the 8700 block of Eager Road. Around 11:45 p.m. Saturday, officers discovered Dr. Zacharev dead with apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigators are looking for a silver/metallic, smaller SUV or passenger style vehicle, that may have been involved in the incidents. At this time, no motive nor links between the victims have been discovered.

The Major Case Squad and the University City Police Department are conducting a joint investigation and are requesting anyone with information about these incidents to call the University City Police Department at 314-725-2211, ext. 8010; the Brentwood Police Department at 314-963-6708; or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS (8477) to be eligible for a reward of up to $25,000.
