On Sunday, April 19th, 2020, at approximately 11:20 pm, the Collinsville Police Department responded to the Hampton Inn, 7 Commerce Drive, in Collinsville, in reference to an employee reporting a male arriving at the hotel suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently transported from the hotel to St. Louis University hospital by the Collinsville Fire Department, where he was later pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as:

Subsequently, the Collinsville Police Department requested the activation of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis to lead the investigation. Currently, there are approximately 20 investigators assigned to the case, being led by Deputy Commander Mark Kuechle. Investigators are following up on numerous leads at this time.
