MAJOR CASE SQUAD HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN DELLWOOD
On Sunday, September 20th the Major Case Squad was activated by the North County Police Cooperative to investigate the shooting death of a man in Dellwood.
Officers from the North County Police Cooperative were on Westdell investigating a report of shots fired Sunday morning at approximately 5:20am. During their investigation they located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his leg. The man was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injury. The victim has been identified as Deron Wickerson, age 28, of Hazelwood.
Investigators have determined that Wickerson was involved in a dispute with two men on Westdell when the disturbance turned violent and the men fired shots striking the victim as he was fleeing the area. Investigators have located and seized several firearms they believe may have been used in the shooting.
Two men were quickly identified and apprehended shortly after the shooting and have been charged by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action. The men have been identified as Elijah Williams, age 27, of Dellwood, and Daylan Williams, age 18, of Cahokia, IL. Both men are being held at the St. Louis County Department of Corrections on a $30,000 cash only bond.
