The East St. Louis Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Yvette House. Police officers responded to an overgrown field along 20th Street after a passerby discovered the decomposed remains of a female in the field. There officers located the body of Yvette House (age 30). She was positively identified after examining skeletal records. It was determined Yvette was pregnant at the time of her death. The last time Yvette was seen was in November 1999.

While searching the field, the body of Seriece Johnson was also found inside a trash bag (see Major Case Squad Report #327).

In May 2000, the bodies of two more women were found in the same area. In July 2000, the body of another woman was found less than 4 blocks away.
