The East St. Louis Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Alexis Winston (age 23). At around 4:00am, officers responded to a possible home invasion in progress in the 1200 block of Market Street. When officers arrived on scene, they located Alexis Winston deceased inside her apartment. She had been shot multiple times. A toddler-aged child was also inside the residence unharmed.
